Swearing-in of newly-elected Officers and Directors

 

New York, New York, January 5, 2009 – The Nigerian Lawyers Association (“NLA”) announced today that the newly-elected officers and directors of the NLA will take their oath of office at the swearing-in ceremony, scheduled to take place on Thursday, January 15, 2009.

 

The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the New York County Lawyers’ Association’s Home of Law (2nd floor lounge) located at 14 Vesey Street, New York, New York 10007, at 6:00 p.m. The induction of the newly-elected NLA officers will be officiated by the Honorable Debra A. James of the New York State Supreme Court, New York County.

 

The President-Elect, Emeka Chinwuba, is a New-York based attorney and practices in the Finance Group of Shearman & Stearling LLP. Other newly-elected officers are

 

Folake Ayoola (Vice-President),

Ekwutozia Nwabuzor (Secretary),

Courage Otaigbe (Treasurer),

Uzoma Eze (Public Relations Officer) and

Adedayo Soneye (Parliamentarian).

 

The newly-elected director is Billy Enobakhare.

 

The NLA’s new officers and director were elected at the NLA’s annual general meeting held on Saturday, December 6, 2008.

The NLA is an association of attorneys based in the United States. The NLA has been active in cultivating the science of jurisprudence and facilitating the administration of justice in the United States and Nigeria.
